I’ll always remember…

the first week I moved to NY. I was walking in the west village and noticed the Beastie Boys standing outside a bagel shop. I loved them but a girl I had just met loved them even more. I was such a dork, but something about them made me think it would be ok to just walk up to them and ask a favor. A favor?! It was my new friend’s birthday and I thought I’d make her day, and days to come, if I could get them to wish her a happy birthday. So I went up to them, shakily and dorkily, and told them about my friend. Without any hesitation, they were like, yeah! Where is she? So we walked around the corner where she was waiting for me, and surprised her. It was SO awesome! She started crying and in that moment, no one could ever be as cool as the Beastie Boys. We loved them…all three, as a whole. Good bye to so much….RIP Adam Yauch…

Thank you Sasha Frere-Jones for this (from the New Yorker)….

Walking through NADA yesterday I couldn’t stop smiling when I came across these. Mini sculptures in clear bags made of old chewing gum, bits of debris and other trash finds. I think the artist is Yuji Agematsu. They were at the Real Fine Arts booth.
